If you are interested in buying college football tickets, there are some good options you should consider that will not leave you camped out all night in front of the ticket office.

1. Craigslist.com
One of the first places I start looking for college football tickets is Craigslist. Craigslist is the perfect marketplace for tickets to all types of sporting events and due to the setup, it may offer the opportunity to get the best deal.
Craigslist is setup so you search for items by geographic location. If you are lucky enough to search outside the location the event is being held and find a seller, this may afford you the perfect chance to get college football tickets at less than face value. The further the away the event, the less chance the seller has to sell the tickets. A desperate seller usually equals a very low price.
But always be careful with Craigslist. It doesn't offer buyers the chance to rate sellers in terms of feedback and provide an anonymous venue for sellers to peddle their goods. With the prevalence of counterfeit tickets these days, you can never be to cautious.

2. eBay.com
If you are searching for a hard to find college football tickets, there is no doubt you can find them on eBay. eBay is also considered to be a pretty safe venue if you pay attention to the seller's feedback. eBay has also changed payment rules and are forcing sellers to take payment by Paypal or credit card. This affords buyers the luxury of disputing payment if the seller doesn't deliver as promised.
Sellers on eBay don't have the option of being anonymous. If a seller promises tickets to an event and doesn't deliver, they may be legally liable for any travel arrangements you have made.

3. Official Team Website
You should always check the official team website. Not all games are going to be sold out. Most teams will offer tickets right on their site or will point you to a vendor that will offer tickets. You'll never get a deal less than face value, but it is a good option to consider.

4. Friend Didn't Show
My last option is to show up to the event without tickets and purchase them from someone with an extra ticket to sale. I'm not talking about scalpers wanting twice face value. I'm talking about the person that has an extra ticket from a friend that didn't show. I've always got great deals doing this and I've never showed up to a game and didn't find someone standing out front with an extra ticket.

Be Cautious
You should always be cautious when buying college football tickets or any tickets for that matter. If you aren't buying them directly from the team website or ticket office, you are always running a chance that you may be getting fake tickets. It does happen.
